In addition to this, the Town’s Department of Planning and Zoning will shed light on the latest updates to the newly adopted Zoning Code discussing how this updated document supports and impacts the commercial areas within the Town.

Town of Vienna residents and businesses are encouraged to compete in this year’s “Shine Bright, Vienna” holiday decorating contest sponsored by the Economic Development Division, the Town Business Liaison Committee (TBLC), and the Vienna Parks and Recreation Department.

Applications for the 2023 contest will open on Oct. 23, 2023, and be available online at viennava.gov/holiday or at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., SE.

Business displays will be judged by the TBLC judging panel. More details about this event are available on the website.

Vienna's first major zoning code update in nearly 60 years has reached a milestone: a draft updated zoning code is complete. Attend a joint public hearing of the Town Council and the Planning Commission to provide your feedback. The public hearings will take place on July 10 and on July 12.  Details and a link to the proposed plan are at www.codecreatevienna.com.

Starting this fall, the Town plans to improve the appearance of 81 landscape planters on both sides of Maple Avenue and 46 planters on both sides of Church Street. 

The Town will host a public informational session for business owners and residents on June 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Vienna Community to discuss the new landscape design proposed for the Town planters.

Representatives from LSG Landscape Architecture will present the Maple Avenue and Church Street streetscape planting design concepts. The landscape firm will answer questions, gather feedback, and identify solutions that may address concerns before starting the work. 

The new plants are expected to be in place by the end of November 2023. Join us for this informative session!
